It is hard to believe that we are close to the end of our _fourth week in
Freedom Plaza_. We have a core community here and new people that join each
day. Dr. Bruce Levine recently wrote about the importance of [3]working for
social change as an antidote to depression. We agree!

We have a full kitchen up and running where three meals a day are served.
_We appreciate food donations_ coming from the local community and
restaurants! We thank the Communications Workers Association for providing
us with showers, and Daniel who built a large white board and covered
structure for holding teach-ins and general assemblies.

When we experienced unusual weather last Saturday – rain, sleet and snow –
we really appreciate those of you who stopped by with blankets, warm
clothing, warm food and tarps. That made a huge difference! _The local DC
community is wonderful!_

_Tonight_ at 5 pm, members of the _School of the Americas Watch_ will
provide a teach-in.

_Wednesday_ is a day of [5]General Strike in solidarity with OccupyOakland
– a great time to join us in Freedom Plaza for a _rally with CWA at 5 pm_
and the regular evening General Assembly at 6 pm. So far the Metropolitan
and Park police have been open and respectful with us. A trend that we hope
continues because they are also part of the 99%. We hear that pressure is
coming from above and so there may be a time when the local police are
ordered to clear Freedom Plaza. We will try to let you know if this is
coming and _ask that you join us to hold this important space_. Retired
police and military [6]recently vowed to protect peaceful protesters.

_Thursday_ will be an _international day of action in support of a financial
transactions tax_. We will _march from Freedom Plaza with National Nurses
United_ at 11 am. At 5 pm, _Ralph Nader_ will join us to speak about the
impact of the occupy movement on political dialog. Kevin Zeese writes about

_Friday_ morning at 9:00 am, David Ewoldt from [8]Coalitions of Mutual
Endeavour will provide a [9]teach-in on _building a sustainable movement_.

_Saturday_ is an _international day of action to move our money_ out of the
big banks and into community banks and credit unions. There are leaflets
available in our [10]toolkit if you would like to pass them out at your
