 >
 > Its amazing how many CVs have significant issues with content and
 > spelling mistakes. Your profile and skill section are particularly
 > key as this information is shared together with your availability
 > with the leadership team and Programme Managers. It needs to be
 > concise and clear regarding your experience, your expertise and your
 > aspirations.
 >
 > Here are a few tips when spring cleaning your CV:
 > Ensure your CV does not contain confidential information.
 > Only include relevant professional information; the client doesn’t
 > care if you collect stamps and you had an article published in a
 > trade magazine in 1982!
 > Make it quantifiable, providing evidence of your skills
 > Make personal to you – not a job description
 > Use company names only where permissible
 > Do not include a picture in the CV
 > Do not understate or overstate your achievements – you’ll need to
 > live up to this on the account
 > Don’t make it War & Peace – keep it snappy and to the point -
 > readers won’t trawl through pages upon pages of outdated information
 >
 > Some tips in different sections on the CV
 >
 > Profile: The Profile provides a summary of your professional
 > background that gives the reader (client or internal) an overview of
 > your key experiences and key skills.
 > The profile gives the reader the first impression and therefore has
 > to convince them about the value you can add to a project.
 > Make it interesting; very wordy documents with few obvious and
 > tangible skills can be off putting irrespective of whether the
 > skills are further in the detail.
 > Ensure main skills are highlighted.
 > Profile should be a couple of small paragraphs as an overall
summaryof skills
 >
 > Career History: It is a list of employers and roles you had during
 > your career so far.
 > One entry must therefore relate to your current employer: 'IBM'.
 > Ensure there is a good balance between the past and current roles,
 > emphasising areas you want to promote the most.
 > Focus more on the skills you are looking to deploy rather than those
 > in the past.
 > Consider summarising descriptions of roles for previous clients to
 > maybe a short paragraph each using bullet points if required.
 >
 > Assignment History: This section covers your assignments with IBM in
 > this section.
 > New Joiner's who are not yet assigned to a project should leave this
 > section blank.
 > For each entry - Pointers:
 > Title each assignment related to the area illustrated, e.g. the
 > industry and your role
 > Only include specific project / campaigns
 > Do not assume that the reader will have prior knowledge of areas
mentioned
 > Describe the business objective, problem or what the customer
 > wanted to achieve, put it in context and quantify
 > Describe the skills you used to address the problem
 > Make sure each sentence sells you and emphasises the difference
 > you alone made
 > Describe the key items (eg. results, achievements, benefits)
 > derived from the assignment
 > Quantify and qualify - use percentage figures rather than monetary
 > values when putting into context
 >
 > Prior Experiences: This section contains experience prior to IBM.
 > For each entry - Pointers:
 > Title each role and responsibility
 > Give a brief description of your responsibilities and skills used
 > If you have predominately worked in the same area for most of your
 > career, use the change in responsibilities as your break points
