Hola a todas
Gracias
Un beso
Susana

Hola a todas:
Yolanda

Dear Lieve, Yolanda and Edith,Here I have a difficult and potentially time-consuming task for you three and Marianita (! hope I may leave it to Edith to write to her in French?). First and foremost I apologize for loading you with this work. Please give me your advice on how to handle it. I attach my draft chapter for the WRI book. Ideally I suppose, it should go to the four language lists to invite comment, but it is a lot to translate and you might feel it is not worthwhile to do this except in English. On the other hand, we could ask Howard Clark if the Spanish, French and Italian versions of the chapter as finally submitted, might be put to good use by publication by WiB groups locally (should they wish it) in feminist or antiwar journals and papers in their languages. Obviously this would have to be at an appropriate time, and with credit to the book, but could be helpful perhaps in increasing its publicity and sales. So, friends, please tell me what you would like and propose to do about this. Below, in quote marks, I give you more information, in a form that could become my letter to accompany the chapter out to the email lists...Hugs, Cynthia........"You will remember that I was invited by Howard Clark, the international chair person of War Resisters International, to contribute a chapter on WiB to a book he is editing on "Unarmed Resistance and Global Solidarity". We checked out via the e-lists that there was no objection to my drafting such a contribution, and I received several messages of strong endorsement. Now I attach my draft chapter, which ought to be transmitted in finished form to the editor by the end of June. We thus have one month to discuss it collectively.Certain points I would like to make:The chapter, while it is intended to serve as a general introduction to and description of WiB, is designed explicitly to focus on the question of "solidarity".Secondly, it is supposed to be no more than 2500 in length. It is currently 2677. So any changes need to lose as many words as they add.Third, I would appreciate it if any you could send me information on other substantial articles , books and theses that may exist on WiB, to add to "further reading". I would need author, date, title, and country and name of publisher in each case. Please, those of you who are interested, could you read the proposed article and let me know (a) of any factual errors and (b) instances where your interpretation may differ from mine. It may be difficult to reach consensus, but I promise to take careful account of your thoughts in finalizing the piece. The last date I can usefully receive your advice is June 18.Best wishes, and thanks in anticipation, Cynthia"
