Entre altres es debaten el retorn energètic, la productivitat per hectàrea i la terra requerida, el seu balanç d’emissions, la competència amb la producció d’aliments i la compatibilitat amb la conservació de la biodiversitat. Pel fet de ser presentats com a una solució a múltiples problemes: el pic del petroli, desenvolupament rural, canvi climàtic, contaminació urbana, etc., la polèmica marca l’interrogant sobre les conseqüències i sobre si existeix una manera i una escala viables per a ser produïts de manera sostenible i equitativa sense convertir-se enlloc d’en part de les solucions, en part dels problemes. En aquest article volem destacar les contradiccions (i incompatibilitats) d’aquesta retòrica i ens centrem concretament en la política de biodiesel de la Índia i les de la Jatropha curcas, l’espècie més àmpliament promoguda en aquest país. </font></td>

Són moltes les qüestions a tractar en aquest article sobre el concepte de sobirania energètica: quin és el seu significat, quines són les seves implicacions i, bàsicament, que és el que s’entén per sobirania energètica.

Però aquestes darreres setmanes hem tingut alguna oportunitat de llegir o sentir-ne un parell. La decisió de Rafael Correa, president d’Equador, de “suspendre” el pagament d’una part del deute extern per considerar-lo il·legítim, després d’haver realitzat una auditoría integral del deute durant més d’un any, ha ocupat escasses pàgines de la secció d’economia dels principals diaris espanyols i menys minuts a les televisions i ràdios. Els qui van recollir la noticia ho van fer generalment amb alarma, titllant la decisió del president equatorià d’arriscada o fins i tot irresponsable...

Taula rodona sobre la “Reunió d'Alt Nivell sobre Seguretat Alimentària”, Madrid 2009. <br><br>
Amb la participació de tres dels assistents a la reunió de Madrid: Mª Gabriela Serra (Entrepobles), Henk Hobbelink (GRAIN) i Gustavo Duch (Campanya “No et Mengis el Món”). <br><br>
movent en la governança internacional que tracta directament sobre l'agricultura i l'alimentació. Diversos organismes i institucions estan intentat engrandir les seves parcel.les de poder i existeixen clares tensions entre elles: l'Organització de les Nacions Unides per a l'Alimentació i l'Agricultura (FAO), el Grup Consultiu per a la Investigació Agrícola Internacional (CGIAR), el Fons internacional per al Desenvolupament Agrícola (FIDA), el Programa Mundial d'Aliments (PMA) d'una banda, i per l´altra la resurrecció d'altres actors que aprofitant el maremágnum i la incertesa actual s'han obert pas a cops de colze fins a colar-se en la primera fila : el BM, FMI o l'OMC. Un batibull de sigles i organismes en uns moments on la governança mundial en aquests temes es indecisa. A aquest espectacle assisteixen els moviments socials que lluiten per la sobirania alimentària, que veuen en aquests moviments una nova amenaça que augmentaria, encara més, la seva exclusió actual dels espais de decisió internacional. El darrer capítol d'aquest joc d'escacs desiguals s´ha produït el 25-26 de gener a Madrid, en la Reunió d'Alt Nivell per a la Seguretat Alimentària. Per tot això ens sembla important debatre, reflexionar i intercanviar informació sobre aquests temes i us convidem a participar en la taula rodona.
