Les poblacions afectades responsabilitzen les companyies multinacionals del saqueig dels recursos naturals, la privatització dels serveis públics i la desregulació del mercat laboral. Fins ara, les empreses transnacionals a penes han contribuït a solucionar les desigualtats als països on han realitzat les seves inversions. Tot això ens porta a pensar com s’han de resoldre els conflictes entre les corporacions transnacionals i les poblacions de l’Amèrica Llatina: són suficients les legislacions i els tribunals nacionals? Qui protegeix els ciutadans davant els abusos de les grans empreses?</font></td>

A l'Havana, l’any 2005, durant la trobada d’organitzacions del Sud i del Nord es va posar la primera pedra de l‘actual “Campanya Internacional Sud-Nord sobre Deute Il·legítim”. Un any i mig més tard, al Fòrum Social Mundial de Nairobi, es van començar a concretar els objectius acordats a l’Havana amb el llançament efectiu de la campanya. Cal destacar-ne la convocatòria de la primera Setmana d'Acció Global contra el Deute i les IFI com a primera acció conjunta . La convocatòria de la “Trobada Sud-Nord d’estudi i estratègies sobre deute il·legítim”, que va tenir lloc entre el 10 i el 15 de setembre d’enguany a Quito, ha representat un avenç pel que fa a la definició de la campanya i a la creació de lligams entre els moviments sobre deute d’arreu del món.

Les darreres dècades hem viscut la construcció d’un nou règim jurídic internacional, que ha permés desplegar i protegir els interessos econòmics de les empreses transnacionals a qualsevol país del món. En canvi no ha garantit la protecció dels Drets Humans. Per tal d’assolir aquest objectiu s’ha creat tot un entramat d’institucions i regulacions jurídiques internacionals, regionals i estatals. Aquest nou status quo de les empreses mostra la clara assimetria existent entre el desenvolupament del Dret Comercial Global (LEX MERCATORIA GLOBAL) i els Drets Humans. En aquest sentit, les empreses transnacionals, per protegir les seves inversions allà on les facin, compten amb un complet arsenal jurídic: tractats de lliure comerç, acords de promoció i protecció de les inversions, aparells judicials privatitzats per la resolució de controversies depenents del Banc Mundial (CIADI) o de l’OMC (SSD). D’altra banda, els pobles dels països empobrits, receptors d’aquestes inversions, pateixen els impactes socials i ambientals que generen les empreses transnacionals, restant indefensos al tenir molt poques vies de denúncia d’aquestes vulneracions dels Drets Humans. Amb aquest seminari volem aprofundir en la comprensió d’aquesta assimetria legal, a través de l’anàlisi de les regulacions que protegeixen els drets de les empreses transnacionals, els sistemes de control existents i les possibles legislacions actuals que permeten el seu judici. D’altra banda, volem aprendre de l’experiència de la societat civil en resistència, a través de la presentació de casos de vulneració de Drets Humans a diferents països del Sud. <br><br>

Hem de qüestionar el nostre model alimentari? Els agrocombustibles són una resposta adequada davant l’escalfament global? Què és el Deute Ecològic? Què és el Supermercatisme? Es tracta d’un espai bilingüe (castellà/català) que pretén ser una eina de comunicació i de difusió de cara a la societat civil en general i a les xarxes i moviments socials en particular. La Jornada és oberta a tothom i la inscripció és gratuïta. Totes les persones inscrites prèviament rebran documentació sobre els temes tractats a la Jornada. Amb aquest seminari volem aprofundir en la comprensió d’aquesta asssimetria legal, a través de l’anàlisi de les regulacions que protegeixen els drets de les empreses transnacionals, els sistemes de control existents i les possibles legislacions actuals que permeten el seu judici. D’altra banda, volem aprendre de l’experiència de la societat civil en resistència, a través de la presentació de casos de vulneració de Drets Humans a diferents països del Sud.<br><br>
Inscripcions: <br>
El seminari és obert a tothom i la inscripció és gratuïta. Tot i això, aquest seminari està adreçat a persones vinculades a ONG o moviments socials, estudiants universitaris, i d’altres persones amb certs coneixements bàsics sobre cooperació, globalització i relacions Nord - Sud. <br><br>
Totes les persones inscrites prèviament rebran documentació sobre els temes tractats al seminari. El període d’inscripció restarà obert fins al 5 de novembre. Les places són limitades a l’aforament de la sala.<br><br>
Oferim la possibilitat de dinar conjuntament, per un preu al voltant de 10 euros. Indiqueu si us quedareu a dinar en el moment de la inscripció.<br><br>

Las universidades catalanas organizan conjuntamente el IV Congreso Universidad y Cooperación que tendrá lugar en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona los días 12, 13 y 14 de noviembre de 2008.
El congreso ofrece un espacio de encuentro para la reflexión y el debate acerca de los retos, oportunidades y desafíos en el marco de la teoría y la práctica de la cooperación para el desarrollo con una doble función de reflexión científica y de análisis y evaluación de resultados en clave de futuro. Por otro lado, en el congreso se abordará la evaluación y análisis crítico de la situación de la CUD en el marco de los nuevos retos. <br><br>
