<td class="txt"><font style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #666666; text-decoration:none; list-style-image: url(/imatges/vinyeta.gif); list-style-position: outside; ">Quan s’escrigui la història dels canvis sísmics que tenen lloc avui en l’economia mundial, el fracàs al juliol de 2008 dels interessos corporatius i d’alguns governs d’ampliar l'Organització Mundial del Comerç (OMC) per mitjà de la Ronda de Doha passarà a ser un moment decisiu. Va ser en aquesta ciutat a la vora del llac, on els negociadors van llançar la tovallola després de set infructuosos anys d’intents d’ampliar un conjunt particular de polítiques a les quals la majoria de governs ja havien respost amb un “no”, una vegada i una altra (a Seattle l’any 1999, a Mèxic l’any 2003 i a Ginebra l’any 2006). Aquí trobareu dos articles que ens ofereixen elements de comprensió sobre l’última Ronda de negociacions de l’OMC. El primer, escrit pel President de Bolívia, Evo Morales, ens permet d’accedir al punt de vista d’un país del Sud que pugna per limitar la creixent liberalització de l’economia promoguda per l’OMC. El segon, escrit per Deborah James, investigadora del Center for Economic and Policy Research, proposa una reflexió de la Ronda amb relació a les actuals crisis que sacsegen el planeta, sobretot l’ambiental, la financera i l’alimentària. </font></td>

Partint d’una convocatoria de la Campanya Internacional Sud Nord sobre Deute Il·legítim (<a href="http://www.illegitimatedebt.org ">www.illegitimatedebt.org</a>), es crida a organitzacions socials i activistes de tot el món a donar suport y participar en aquesta setmana de múltiples formes d’acció i mobilització.

A l’Estat espanyol la campanya “Qui deu a Qui?” ha tornat a sumar-se a la convocatòria internacional i s’organitzaran activitats a diferents ciutats. A Barcelona la Setmana del Deute girarà al voltant de la situació a l’Àfrica. Sota el lema “Àfrica a l’auxili d’occident”, es convoquen tres jornades de reflexió i debat, que tindran lloc a l’edifici històric de la Universitat de Barcelona (Pl. Universitat): “El saqueig d’Àfrica: el deute extern i l’expoliació dels recursos naturals” (16.10.08 – 18:30h), “Comerciant amb Àfrica o Àfrica a la venda?” (17.10.08 – 18:30h) i “Àfrica: Quina cooperació? Quines resistències?” (18.10.08 – 17:30h). La resta d’activitats que s’organitzan arreu de l’Estat s’aniran anunciant a la web de la campanya. Us hi esperem!

Trenta anys d´història´ (Editorial Icària). Aquest llibre aprofundeix sobre el funcionament i l’ús dels controvertits crèdits FAD (de Fondo de Ayuda al Desarrollo), un dels principals instruments de l’Ajuda Oficial al Desenvolupament (AOD) i l’eina més important generadora de deute extern als països del Sud. Pretén ser un llibre de consulta per a aquelles persones, organitzacions i moviments socials preocupats per l’augment i desordre que està patint aquest instrument els últims anys. Per això, al llarg del mateix es donen arguments polítics consistents, com l’anàlisi detallada de l’ús del FAD en la generació del deute il·legítim, amb la finalitat d’obrir camins per a la seva profunda reforma, tal com es recull a la Llei 38/2006, de 7 de desembre, reguladora de la gestió del deute extern.
