Vernis ha participat en tots els moviments que han volgut investigar i innovar en el disseny i les tècniques artístiques. Va col·laborar per fer possible la Universitat de Vic i, malgrat que exposava en molts llocs, mai no faltava una exposició seva a la Galeria d’Art El Carme de Vic, del seu amic Joan Homs. Des del seu taller amagat a Sant Julià Sassorba, Vernis observava la Plana, Catalunya i el món sencer.
