cuna</FONT></STRONG><BR><BR>Cuando se desparrama la noticia
por la “muerte súbita” de un bebé, el miedo a lo impredecible
y la falsa aseveración de que esa posibilidad es “aleatoria”
-es decir que le puede ocurrir a nuestro bebe en cualquier
momento- se apodera de nosotros, con la idea fortuita de que
dependerá de la buena o la mala suerte que tengamos.
<BR><BR>Sin embargo las cosas no son así. La “muerte súbita”
está mal nombrada. Tendríamos que llamarla <STRONG>“muerte en
la cuna”</STRONG>. Para ser más exactos, habría que
denominarla: <STRONG>“muerte en la cuna mientras está
solo.”. No hay bebes sanos que mueran súbitamente en
brazos de una persona maternante</STRONG>. Discutir si es
mejor hacerlos dormir boca arriba o boca abajo, refleja la
espantosa ignorancia que los occidentales compartimos sobre el
universo de los bebes. Lo único a investigar es si los bebes
<STRONG>duermen solos</STRONG> o si duermen en contacto
completo y absoluto con otro cuerpo humano.<BR><BR>Toda cría
de mamífero de cualquier especie sabe que <STRONG>no puede ni
debe estar sola</STRONG>, porque queda expuesta a los
depredadores. El bebe humano sabe exactamente lo mismo, por
eso usa sus dos principales herramientas para su
supervivencia: el llanto y la succión. Ahora bien, si después
de llorar y llorar y llorar, ningún adulto acude a
salvarlo...porque “tiene que acostumbrarse a dormir solo”,
aparecerá la resignación y la dolorosa certeza de saber que
está solo en este mundo. Luego, en su afán por ser
amado, reclamará presencia y contacto corporal de múltiples
maneras: enfermándose, llorando en momentos inadecuados,
lastimándose, no aumentando de peso, deprimiéndose…hasta que
una noche…en medio de un profundo silencio, decide no
despertar más.<BR><BR>¿Y qué hacemos los hombres y las mujeres
decentes y bien pensantes? Le decimos a la mamá que vuelva a
trabajar pronto, que sea fuerte, que no afloje, que no se
rinda, que la queremos, que sea valiente, que se ocupe de sí
misma, que tenga garra, que luche, que siga
adelante.<BR><BR>Mientras expulsemos a todas las madres del
recogimiento y el silencio de la maternidad y mientras sólo
las reconozcamos en los ámbitos públicos o exitosos,
seguiremos siendo todos responsables por cada bebe que decide
partir, harto de soledad, quietud y frío.</FONT><BR></P>
