<DIV><STRONG>Qué es la perca del Nilo? </STRONG><BR><BR>Este pescado rosado, ¿ve? Está en nuestros mercados. <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Viene del Nilo, de veras? </STRONG><BR><BR>Del lago Victoria. Es un pez carnívoro que introdujo la FAO para facilitar la subsistencia a los pueblos ribereños. <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Y ha sido así? </STRONG><BR><BR>No: unas mafias controlan esa pesca y la exportan a Europa. Esa perca se vende aquí a cinco euros. Si compra mero al mismo precio, le han timado: ¡es perca del Nilo! <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Con qué beneficio para los ribereños? <BR><BR></STRONG>Mínima, debido a esas mafias. Además, la perca depreda el resto de los peces del lago... Y a Europa nos llegan dos millones de raciones diarias de esa perca, ¡y en Tanzania hay dos millones de personas hambrientas! <BR><BR><STRONG>Conclusión. </STRONG><BR><BR>Malbaratamos el medio ambiente del tercer mundo, nos apropiamos de sus recursos naturales y les dejamos el hambre. El
sistema alimentario global imperante es muy disfuncional: ¡produce el doble de alimento del que la humanidad necesita..., pero millones de personas siguen hambrientas! <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Cómo se explica esta paradoja? </STRONG><BR><BR>Porque tratamos el alimento como una mera mercancía más. Y hasta lo tiramos. <BR><BR><STRONG>Cuénteme otro caso ilustrativo. </STRONG><BR><BR>¿Recuerda el secuestro del pesquero Alakrana en aguas africanas del océano Índico? <BR><BR><STRONG>¡Cómo no...! </STRONG><BR><BR>Es uno de los atuneros españoles y lo pagamos todos: cuatro millones de euros de subvención europea a la pesca los metimos ahí en vez de apoyar a pescadores artesanales. <BR><BR><STRONG>Será porque eso resulta rentable... </STRONG><BR><BR>No lo es a la larga. En un solo viaje, cargan ¡3.000 toneladas! de atún. Si cada lata contiene 50 gramos de atún, salen ¡60 millones de latas!: una para cada español (y sobran). Repartidas entre los 2,5
millones de somalíes que pasan hambre cada día, tendrían hasta 25 latas de atún por cabeza... <BR><BR><STRONG>Pues que se lo pesquen ellos. </STRONG><BR><BR>Ellos no disponen de esos atuneros gigantes..., ¡por suerte para los atunes! Ellos ya vivían decentemente de su pesca artesanal..., pero nuestros atuneros esquilman su pesca: arruinados, los somalíes pasan hambre. <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Y por eso se convierten en piratas? </STRONG><BR><BR>¡Por fuerza! Pero ¿piratas, ellos?: ¡nosotros rapiñamos allí, protegidos por nuestras corbetas... que también costeamos usted y yo. <BR><BR><STRONG>Pues qué cara sale una latita de atún... <BR><BR></STRONG>La pagamos varias veces: sume subvenciones, dispositivo del ejército (100 millones de euros), rescate de marineros..., más los euros que enviamos con las ONG para paliar el hambre que ya hemos provocado... <BR><BR><STRONG>Saldría más barato compartir la pesca. </STRONG><BR><BR>Sí. Los "piratas" han
retirado a las grandes flotas pesqueras a alta mar, ¡y vuelve a haber pesca para los pescadores artesanales! Venden sus capturas en mercados locales por 150 euros, y con eso viven con decencia. <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Y cómo va la pesca en Marruecos? </STRONG><BR><BR>Faenan cien barcos españoles: por eso España sacrifica a los pobres saharauis... Pescamos sardina, caballa y pulpo para conserveras gallegas deslocalizadas en Marruecos, por su mano de obra barata y explotable. <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Algún otro abuso pesquero? </STRONG><BR><BR>Millones de salmones se crían en jaulas gigantes en fiordos del sur de Chile, para exportar a Europa, Japón y Estados Unidos: hay que alimentarlos con toneladas de sardina, anchoa y jurel. ¡Se necesitan cinco kilos de pesca para "producir" un kilo de salmón! <BR><BR><STRONG>¿Con qué consecuencias? </STRONG><BR><BR>Pesqueros de arrastre esquilman la pesca frente a Ecuador, Perú y Chile: empobrecen a los pescadores
artesanales, que emigran a los extrarradios de las urbes... ¡Miseria! <BR><BR><STRONG>Y esos salmones ¿están ricos? </STRONG><BR><BR>Su concentración contamina las aguas. Y enferman. Les echan antibióticos..., que luego ingerimos con su carne. Así también crece nuestra resistencia a los antibióticos... <BR><BR><STRONG>Qué panorama. </STRONG><BR><BR>Ahora están muriendo esos salmones a causa de un extraño virus... <BR><BR><STRONG>Ay, que así empezó el virus de la gripe porcina, ¿no? </STRONG><BR><BR>Esos cerdos son criados industrialmente, con escasas condiciones sanitarias: están en México porque los ciudadanos estadounidenses no los quieren en sus pueblos... ¡Es que 100.000 cerdos cagando y meando juntos contaminan mucho tierras y aguas! <BR><BR><STRONG>Pero generarán empleos en México... </STRONG><BR><BR>Generan miseria. Bastan 14 personas para gestionarlos. Y, para alimentarlos, Estados Unidos envía maíz barato, ¡arruinando a
los productores locales de maíz autóctono! <BR><BR><STRONG>¡Que lo lleven a Haití! </STRONG><BR><BR>¡No! A Haití estamos llevando contenedores de arroz "humanitario"... que están arruinando a campesinos locales: deberíamos comprarles a ellos su arroz y distribuirlo luego entre la población. <BR><BR><STRONG>Estamos haciéndolo muy mal, veo... </STRONG><BR><BR>¡Este sistema alimentario global es un desvarío energético, social y ecológico! ¿Le hablo de cómo estamos deforestando y suprimiendo biodiversidad de semillas a cambio de monocultivos de soja y agrocombustibles? Es de locos. ¿O del oligopolio de la leche? <BR><BR><STRONG>Me falta espacio para tanto desastre. </STRONG><BR><BR>Pues se lo resumo: en vez de este sistema alimentario industrial basado en maximizar beneficios económicos, ¿no sería más inteligente apostar por pequeños campesinos, ganaderos y pescadores artesanales, locales, ecológicos? ¡No habría hambre, habría más
dignidad, habría más salud! <BR><BR></DIV>

<DIV><STRONG>Duch fundó Veterinarios sin Fronteras hace casi 25 años, "con mentalidad paternalista": hoy, esta ONG -como el resto- tiene la mentalidad de respaldar iniciativas locales (agropecuarias en este caso) y fomentar la microeconomía. Cito a Duch para saber cómo tratamos a los animales de nuestras granjas..., pero acaba describiéndome los desvaríos de un engranaje global entre piscifactorías y granjas industrializadas -en una superficie como la de esta página criamos dos gallinas-, monocultivos y grandiosos pesqueros.
