Para optimizar la generación de conocimiento útil para las empresas, éstas están utilizando su capacidad para influir en los gobiernos a efectos de forzar cambios legislativos que deriven en una reestructuración total de las universidades así como en la política de financiación de las mismas. La situación de falta de recursos económicos que algunas padecen, está siendo el caldo de cultivo propicio para financiar a grupos de investigación que enfoquen sus proyectos a cuestiones estratégicas para las propias empresas y no para el interés general de la población.</font></td>

Esta tragedia, como otras anteriores, son consecuencias de un sistema de producción fundamentado en la explotación y la violencia. La Responsabilidad Social Empresarial de las grandes empresas ( El Corte Inglés, Benetton, Mango, Wal-Mart, Carrefour o C&A) no evita estas tragedias ni otros tipos de explotación laboral, pero sí permite obtener las cifras de beneficios que anualmente aparecen en sus cuentas de resultados.<br>

En el año 2005, la UE puso en marcha su "política fundamental" para reducir las emisiones - el Sistema de Transacciones de Emisiones de la Unión Europea (EU ETS) . Sin embargo, desde la adopción de las ETS de la UE, las emisiones han aumentado, hay un incremento de la dependencia del carbón, el precio de la energía para los consumidores ha aumentado junto con las ganancias de muchos
actores industriales (como resultado directo del EU ETS) y millones de euros de dinero público han dejado de ser recaudados por prácticas de fraude fiscal. Este informe mostrará que lejos de ser el "mejor instrumento" para luchar contra el cambio climático, el EU ETS es intrínsecamente demasiado débil para impulsar la transformación hacia un modelo energético sostenible que la UE necesita con el fin de mantenerse dentro de los límites del calentamiento global. Es sistematicamente deficiente y no se puede arreglar.

El principal objetivo del observatorio será dar cuenta del estado de los litigios internacionales sobre inversiones entre naciones y multinacionales. Asimismo, se resolvió que el observatorio "proponga mecanismos para la reforma de las instancias arbitrales" en las que se dirimen esos casos.

<td class="txt"><font style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #666666; text-decoration:none; list-style-image: url(/imatges/vinyeta.gif); list-style-position: outside; "> El día 31 de mayo se realizará la Conferencia Internacional: ALTERNATIVAS Y RESISTENCIAS A LA CRISIS DE LA DEUDA, y durante la misma jornada se presentará el documento de consenso "Mecanismos Financieros", en el que el ODG ha estado trabajando en colaboración con organizaciones y ONGD's catalanas, estatales e internacionales. Para la Conferencia Internacional nos acompañarán representantes de las organizaciones que han estado trabajando históricamente con la deuda en el Sur, así como un miembro de la Plataforma Auditoría Ciudadana de la Deuda (PACD). El día 1 de junio haremos la segunda parte de la Conferencia en Sant Cugat del Vallés, donde debatiremos qué podemos aprender de las diferentes crisis de la deuda que han ocurrido en el mundo durante los últimos 30 años.
