La amplitud del problema impone con toda evidencia un debate público de fondo, planteando la cuestión de la ruptura con la estrategia seguida desde el comienzo de la crisis. ¿Con qué derecho se dejan los sucesivos problemas en manos de un pequeño grupo de autoproclamados expertos, mientras que al mismo tiempo los medios desinforman y aterrorizan a las capas populares?<br><br>
Este planteamiento ha sido un perfecto fracaso. El país está en un callejón sin salida y es necesaria una amplia participación popular para la toma de las decisiones referidas a la deuda. Con este objetivo, el primer paso puede ser la constitución de una comisión internacional de auditoria de la deuda pública.</font></td>

Por este motivo, organizaciones de la sociedad civil de América Latina y el Caribe llevaron este caso ante el Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos (TPP), en mayo de 2010. Este artículo trata de las violaciones de derechos promovidas por la política aduanera europea así como de la importancia de la denuncia de la sociedad civil organizada en foros como el TPP.

Se calcula que desde 1998 han muerto casi cinco millones y medio de personas y desde hace unos meses los ataques se han recrudecido. No es casual que el país tenga el 80% de las reservas mundiales de coltán. El Congo huele a sangre, enfrentamiento entre etnias, pobreza, esclavitud y sobre todo a dinero. La antigua colonia belga tiene tanta riqueza que con su explotación debería nadar en la abundancia, sin embargo lo que le sobran son guerras. En su territorio alberga en grandes cantidades cobre, cobalto, estaño, uranio, oro y diamantes, casiterita, wolframita y sobre todo coltán. De este raro mineral se extrae el tantalio, que posee una gran resistencia al calor y excelente conductividad, por lo que es imprescindible para la fabricación de nuevas tecnologías. Desde el móvil que usamos hasta las naves espaciales, pasando por los ordenadores portátiles y las videoconsolas. Todas llevan coltán. La mayor reserva de este material se encuentra en la República Democrática del Congo (RDC).</font></td>

Cancún, tras Copenhague, final de un falso camino que nos han hecho recorrer...<br><br>
Desde los noventa, hasta hace poco, hemos asistido a un “debate” mundial sin precedentes sobre la cuestión del Cambio Climático, que se ha llegado a colocar en estos últimos años como el principal problema de la Humanidad de cara al futuro. Nunca el Capitalismo Global había dedicado tamaña atención a un problema ambiental, cuando en general los había minusvalorado, o en todo caso “abordado” dentro de su lógica, debido a la dimensión de ciertos impactos y a la presión social e institucional suscitada. Llama la atención la tremenda atención internacional (NNUU), estatal, científica, empresarial y social que ha despertado esta cuestión activada como ninguna otra por los Mass Media, o por una gran parte de ellos. Sin el concurso de los medios de comunicación de masas, y sin el apoyo de muy importantes sectores de los poderes globales ligados a ellos, este tema no habría adquirido nunca la dimensión que ha tomado. No hace falta más que ver la atención que se dedica en los medios e instituciones a la Crisis Energética o a la Crisis Ecológica, en general las grandes olvidadas. Ahora que parece que se agota un poco este gran tema en la escena internacional, tras el fracaso de las cumbres de Copenhague y Cancún (aunque ésta se haya intentado vender como un “éxito”), y que se asienta paulatinamente la niebla que ocultaba ciertos intereses no directamente confesados relacionados con el Cambio Climático, es quizás oportuno hacer un balance del porqué de toda esta situación, de la deriva que ha tenido y que aún puede tener. <br><br>
Este texto, que es parte de un capítulo del libro en redacción por <b>Ramón Fernández Durán</b>: “La Quiebra del Capitalismo Global: 2000-2030. Enfrentando el inicio del colapso de la Civilización Industrial”, se centra en por qué se ha convertido durante casi veinte años, y en especial en la última década, en el principal mantra ambiental mundial, que repetían gran parte de las instituciones del Capitalismo Global, y en el que participaba también un elenco enorme de ONGs, el grueso del movimiento ecologista internacional, y en menor medida otros movimientos sociales.<br><br>

Una década después de la primera edición, movimientos y organizaciones sociales de todo el mundo nos volveremos a encontrar en Dakar para trabajar conjuntamente en la construcción de estos otros mundos que creemos posibles. Este año se han registrado más de 700 actividades auto-organizadas y más de 1200 entidades de todo el mundo estarán presentes. El ODG participará junto con una veintena de organizaciones catalanas, coordinadas a través del Foro Social Catalán. <br> <br>
Desde el ODG participaremos en diversas actividades, entre las que destacamos: <br><br>
- "Expolio de recursos naturales, poder corporativo y arquitectura de la impunidad", co-organizado por el ODG con TNI, Alianza Social Hemisférica, Enlazando Alternativas, Our World is Not for Sale (OWINFS) ... <br><br>
- "Financiación Responsable, Soberana y democrática", co-organizado por el ODG con Jubileo Sur Asia, Afrodad, Latindadd, Eurodad, Jubilee USA, Jubilee Debt Campaign UK y Justicia y Paz. <br><br>
- "Contra la deuda en el Norte y el Sur: la auditoría de la deuda", co-organizado por el ODG con la red CADTM internacional <br><br>
- "Hacia el Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos sobre Deuda Ecológica y Justicia Climática", co-organizado por el ODG con Jubileo Sur, World Council of Churches, Economic Justice Network, Oilwatch, Acción Ecológica ... <br><br>
Además, el ODG participa en la preparación y celebración de la Asamblea temática sobre deuda externa, "La crisis del capitalismo y la lucha por la justicia de la deuda", que tendrá lugar el 10 de febrero junto con otras asambleas temáticas. <br><br>
Finalmente, se aprovechará el FSM para avanzar en varias investigaciones. Así, se realizarán entrevistas y encuestas relacionadas con el proyecto "Hacia un consenso de los agentes de cooperación sobre las finanzas para el desarrollo. Perspectivas y alternativas de una financiación más responsable, soberano y democrático". Se hará también un trabajo de campo sobre impactos de la pesca española y europea en Senegal, a nivel socioeconómico y medioambiental en el marco del proyecto "Mapeo de Conflictos Ambientales (MCA)". <br><br>

La asignatura tiene como objetivo introducir al estudiante a los conflictos ambientales derivados del acceso de diferentes actores a los recursos naturales (y servicios ambientales) y a la vez, los derivados de las cargas de la contaminación. Es decir, todos aquellos conflictos ecológico-distributivos (locales o internacionales) nacidos del creciente metabolismo social, desde el punto de vista de la pugna de actores con diferentes intereses y valores, que utilizan lenguajes de valoración también distintos. Está orientada principalmente a estudiantes de doctorado. La asignatura forma parte de la especialidad del Master de Sostenibilidad de la UPC que corresponde a la evaluación de políticas ambientales.<br><br>

<td class="txt"><font style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #666666; text-decoration:none; list-style-image: url(/imatges/vinyeta.gif); list-style-position: outside; "> El ODG ha participado en la campaña "Haití, un terremoto que dura siglos", que han puesto en marcha el 18 de enero al 13 de febrero una decena de entidades de la Federación Catalana de ONG para el Desarrollo (FCONGD). En el marco de esta campaña se ha elaborado el dossier "Notas para entender lo que ocurre en Haití, un año después del terremoto y más allá". El dossier consta de breves apartados de información sobre la situación de Haití antes y después del terremoto, las causas históricas del empobrecimiento del país caribeño, así como el proceso de reconstrucción y ayuda internacional. Las informaciones han sido utilizadas por diversos medios de comunicación a la hora de cubrir el primer aniversario del terremoto que afectó Haití hace un año. <br> <br>
Además, se ha participado en las actividades de la campaña (http://www.fcongd.org), ha intervenido en varios programas de radio y televisión presentando las informaciones del dossier y la campaña, se han publicado varios artículos sobre la situación en Haití antes y después del terremoto. Entre estos artículos destaca "Haití sigue temblando" (publicado en Revista Pueblos, Rebelion, y CanalSolidario, entre otros medios) y "Haití continúa temblando en medio del estado de excepción" (reportaje publicado en el semanario La Directa). <br><br>
