¡Fuera Monsanto de Haití!<br>

Estimadas amigas y amigos de Salva la Selva:<br>

El terremoto que asoló a Haití en enero de 2010 causó más de 300.000
muertos, 500.000 heridos y dejó a más de un millón de personas sin
techo. De la vulnerabilidad de ese país frente a los desastres
naturales son responsables los países colonialistas y neocolonialistas
y las instituciones financieras internacionales, las corporaciones
transnacionales y los grupos nacionales de poder económico y político.<br>
<br>
Ahora, la gigante empresa multinacional de semillas, Monsanto con
complicidad de la agencia de cooperación al desarrollo norteamericana
USAID, pretende entregar un mortífero regalo a Haití: 475 toneladas de
semillas de esa marca. Pero por razones históricas, la desconfianza
hacia las intenciones de las corporaciones trasnacionales y hacia el
gobierno de Estados Unidos es fuerte entre muchos haitianos. Las
organizaciones campesinas se oponen rotundamente por la dependencia que
provocan las semillas híbridas y genéticamente modificadas de Monsanto.

The earthquake, which devastated Haiti in January 2010, killed more
than 300,000 people, injured 500,000 and made more than 1 million
homeless. Haiti’s vulnerability to natural disasters has several
causes. The colonial and post colonial occupations in Haiti, the
financial institutions, the multinational corporations as well as
national political and economic powers are responsible for this
situation.<br>

Now Monsanto, the world’s largest seed producer, is trying to offer
Haiti a fatal gift, with the complicity of the U.S. Government agency
USAID: 475 tons of genetically modified seeds. For historical reasons,
many Haitians mistrust the intentions of multinational corporations and
the United States government. The peasant organisations have spoken out
