Luego de hacer estragos en su patria de origen, Estados Unidos, el “virus neoliberal”, para usar la acertada expresión de Samir Amin, ha contagiado Europa. Ante los síntomas inocultables de la crisis, los mercados reaccionan con su explosiva mezcla de rapacidad e irracionalidad y evidencian su escepticismo ante las recetas de salida de la crisis elaboradas por el G-20, el FMI o el BM. Para colmo, este fin de semana, Jean-Claude Trichet, presidente del Banco Central Europeo, declaró que “el salvataje de un billón de dólares aprobado por la UE y el FMI es sólo para ganar un poco de tiempo”. Esta opinión fue secundada por el economista-jefe del BCE, Jürgen Stark, quien además dijo que “cuando los mercados se vuelven locos, nadie puede prever las consecuencias”.

Contó con la participación de más de 400 colectivos y organizaciones de Europa y de América Latina y el Caribe y fue dedicada a la memoria de la activista indígena <b> Betty Cariño</b>, asesinada en Oaxaca (México), el 27 de abril de 2010, por su labor contra las transnacionales mineras. La Cumbre rindió homenaje a todas las personas asesinadas a causa de su lucha social y política, y a todas las víctimas del modelo neoliberal injusto y excluyente en América Latina, el Caribe y Europa. <b>CONTENIDOS: </b> <br>
Afrontar y actuar ante la situación ecológica de la tierra constituye, en este nuevo milenio, uno de los retos de primer orden para la humanidad en general y el movimiento ecologista en particular. La pesca, la biodiversidad, la energía, las infraestructuras y el cambio climático representan actualmente, con grandes ámbitos socioecológicos en los cuales debemos brindar respuestas, y como tales, se sitúan en el centro del debate de los movimientos sociales y ecologistas contemporáneos. Este curso tiene por objetivo plantear cuáles son los aspectos claves que deben considerar los movimientos sociales ecologistas de Cataluña y del Estado español durante el decenio 2010-2020, en relación con los cinco ámbitos mencionados, y se realizará en colaboración con académicos y activistas que ofrecerán un análisis tanto en la escala local como global, permitiendo una revisión constante de las relaciones existentes entre las 5 áreas. <br> <br>
