Asimismo se hace una comparativa de su peso en los últimos cinco años. Por último, se detalla un argumentario así como las propuestas que consideramos imprescindibles a tener en cuenta en la inminente reforma del instrumento.</font></td>

Las poblaciones afectadas responsabilizan a las compañías multinacionales del saqueo de los recursos naturales, la privatización de los servicios públicos y la desregulación del mercado laboral. Hasta ahora, las empresas transnacionales apenas han contribuido a solucionar las desigualdades en los países donde han realizado sus inversiones. Todo esto nos lleva a pensar cómo han de resolverse los conflictos entre las corporaciones transnacionales y las poblaciones de América Latina: ¿son suficientes las legislaciones y tribunales nacionales? ¿Quién protege a la ciudadanía frente a los abusos de las grandes empresas?</font></td>

<td><font style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #666666; text-decoration:none; list-style-image: url(/imatges/vinyeta.gif); list-style-position: outside; ">Desde el año 2000, las organizaciones y movimientos sociales que trabajan por la cancelación de la deuda desde diferentes rincones del mundo se han ido encontrando en múltiples reuniones, foros y cumbres. En la Habana, en 2005, en el encuentro de organizaciones del Sur y del Norte se puso la primera piedra para la actual “Campaña Internacional Sur Norte sobre Deuda Ilegítima”. Año y medio más tarde, en el Foro Social Mundial de Nairobi, se empezaron a concretar los objetivos acordados en la Habana con el lanzamiento efectivo de la campaña, destacando la convocatoria de la primera Semana de Acción Global contra la Deuda y las IFIs como primera acción conjunta de la campaña . La convocatoria del “Encuentro Sur - Norte de estudio y estrategias sobre deuda ilegítima”, que tuvo lugar entre el 10 y el 15 de septiembre de este año en Quito, ha supuesto un avance en la definición de dicha campaña y la construcción de lazos entre los movimientos de deuda de todo el mundo.</font></td>

Las últimas décadas hemos vivido la contrucción de un nuevo régimen jurídico internacional, que ha permitido desplegar y proteger los intereses económicos de las empresas transnacionales en cualquierl país del mundo. En cambio no ha garantizado la protección de los Derechos Humanos. Con el objetivo de conseguir este objetivo se ha creado un entramado de instituciones y regulaciones jurídicas internacionales, regionales y estatales.
Este nuevo status quo de las empresas muetra la clara asimetría existente entre el desarrollo del Derecho Comercial Global (LEX MERCATORIA GLOBAL) y los Derechos Humanos. En este sentido, las empresas transnacionales, para proteger sus inversiones allí donde las hagan, cuentan con un completo arsenal jurídico: tratados de libre comercio, acuerdos de promoción y protección de las inversiones, aparatos judiciales privatizados para la resolución de controversias dependentes del Banco Mundial (CIADI) o de la OMC (SSD). Por otro lado, los pueblos de los países empobrecidos, receptores de estas inversiones, padecen los impactos sociales y ambientales que generan las empresas transnacionales, quedando indefensos al tener muy pocas vías de denuncia de estas vulneraciones de los Derechos Humanos. Con este seminario queremos profunidzar en la comprensión de esta asimetría legal, a través del análisis de las regulaciones que protegen los derechos de las empresas transnacionales, los sistemas de control existentes y las posibles legislaciones acutales que permiten que sean juzgadas. Por otra parte, queremos aprender de la experiencia de la sociedad civil en resistencia, a través de la presentación de casos de vulneración de Derechos Humanos en diferentes países del Sur. <br><br>

Se trata de un espacio bilingüe (castellano/catalán) que busca ser una herramienta de comunicación y difusión de cara a la sociedad civil en general y a las redes y movimientos sociales en particular. Al visitarla, podrán ver apartados con novedades y noticias, materiales didácticos, así como secciones donde se profundizan temáticas como las grandes cadenas de distribución, los agrocombustibles y la pesca, siempre desde la reivindicación de la deuda ecológica y la lucha por la soberanía alimentaria. <br><br>

Con este seminario queremos profunidzar en la comprensión de esta asimetría legal, a través del análisis de las regulaciones que protegen los derechos de las empresas transnacionales, los sistemas de control existentes y las posibles legislaciones acutales que permiten que sean juzgadas. Por otra parte, queremos aprender de la experiencia de la sociedad civil en resistencia, a través de la presentación de casos de vulneración de Derechos Humanos en diferentes países del Sur. <br><br>
Inscripciones:<br>
El seminario es abierto a todo el mundo y la inscripción es gratuita. Aunque, este seminario esta orientado a personas vinculadas a ONG o movimientos sociales, estudiantes universitarios, y entre otras personas con ciertos conocimientos básicos sobre la deuda, globalización y relaciones Norte – Sur.
Todas las personas inscritas previamente recibirán documentación sobre los temas tratados en el seminario. El período de inscripción restará abierto hasta el 5 de noviembre. La plazas son limitadas al aforo de la sala. <br><br>
Ofrecemos la posibilidad de comer conjuntamente, por un precio alrededor de 10 euros. Indicad si os quedaréis a comer en el momento de la inscripción. <br><br>

Las universidades catalanas organizan conjuntamente el IV Congreso Universidad y Cooperación que tendrá lugar en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona los días 12, 13 y 14 de noviembre de 2008.
El congreso ofrece un espacio de encuentro para la reflexión y el debate acerca de los retos, oportunidades y desafíos en el marco de la teoría y la práctica de la cooperación para el desarrollo con una doble función de reflexión científica y de análisis y evaluación de resultados en clave de futuro. Por otro lado, en el congreso se abordará la evaluación y análisis crítico de la situación de la CUD en el marco de los nuevos retos. <br><br>
