                                                de cuarenta
                                                organizaciones de
                                                diferentes ámbitos
                                                presentaron ayer la
                                                campaña <a

href="https://justiciaalimentaria.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=4592&qid=398737"><strong><em>Defiéndeme</em></strong></a>
                                                para exigir un sistema
                                                de regulación con rango
                                                de ley que garantice que
                                                la población infantil
                                                únicamente pueda verse
                                                expuesta a publicidad de
                                                alimentos y bebidas
                                                saludables.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">Con

                                                esta alianza formada por
                                                Justicia Alimentaria, la
                                                Sociedad Española de
                                                Salud Pública (SESPAS),
                                                la Confederación
                                                Española de Asociaciones
                                                de Padres y Madres del  
                                                Alumnado (CEAPA), Amigos
                                                de la Tierra, Medicus
                                                Mundi y Ecologistas en
                                                Acción, se  busca
                                                proteger los derechos de
                                                la infancia a la salud y
                                                al libre desarrollo de
                                                la  personalidad,
                                                evitando el efecto
                                                pernicioso de la
                                                publicidad. El
                                                manifiesto, además, ha
                                                estado apoyado por más
                                                de cuarenta
                                                organizaciones
                                                adheridas, entre las que
                                                se  encuentran: el
                                                Comité Español
                                                Interdisciplinario de
                                                Prevención
                                                Cardiovascular, la
                                                 Sociedad Española de
                                                Médicos Generales y de
                                                Familia (SEMG), la
                                                Asociación Española
                                                 contra el Cáncer, la
                                                Plataforma Rural , la
                                                Asociación de Enfermería
                                                Comunitaria, el  Consejo
                                                General de la Psicología
                                                o la Coordinadora de
                                                ONG.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">El

                                                director de Justicia
                                                Alimentaria, Javier
                                                Guzmán, ha pedido a la
                                                administración pública
                                                que cambie de estrategia
                                                en la lucha contra la
                                                obesidad infantil y los
                                                problemas de mala
                                                alimentación y “asuma
                                                que haberla dejado en
                                                manos de las propias
                                                empresas ha sido un
                                                enorme error”.
                                                “Necesitamos políticas
                                                públicas que protejan a
                                                los niños y niñas del
                                                bombardeo descontrolado
                                                de publicidad de
                                                alimentos insanos”, ha
                                                reivindicado.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Niñas

                                                  y niños: la población
                                                  más vulnerable</strong></span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">En

                                                el Estado español, los
                                                niños y las niñas ven al
                                                día 25 anuncios
                                                televisivos de alimentos
                                                y bebidas, la mayoría de
                                                los cuales no son
                                                saludables. Durante la
                                                infancia no somos
                                                capaces de identificar
                                                la publicidad ni somos
                                                conscientes de su
                                                objetivo comercial ni
                                                persuasivo. Hasta los 12
                                                años el ser humano
                                                carece de la madurez
                                                cognitiva necesaria para
                                                 ser escéptico ante los
                                                mensajes comerciales,
                                                considerándolos ciertos,
                                                justos y precisos cuando
                                                no siempre lo son. Niñas
                                                y niños siguen eligiendo
                                                con preferencia los
                                                productos anunciados,
                                                incluso cuando reciben
                                                consejo de personas
                                                adultas para elegir
                                                otros más saludables. La
                                                publicidad alimentaria
                                                es con frecuencia
                                                engañosa también para
                                                las personas adultas, ya
                                                que hasta el 80% de
                                                alimentos y bebidas que
                                                se anuncian con
                                                alegaciones
                                                nutricionales y de salud
                                                positivas, en realidad
                                                no son saludables. “Las
                                                familias reclaman que la
                                                salud esté por encima de
                                                los intereses económicos
                                                de la industria
                                                alimentaria”,ha
                                                enfatizado Leticia
                                                Cardenal, presidenta de
                                                la CEAPA.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Aplicar

                                                  el perfil nutricional
                                                  que marca la OMS</strong></span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">La

                                                inmensa mayoría de la
                                                publicidad alimentaria
                                                que se emite, hace
                                                referencia a productos
                                                no saludables,
                                                contribuyendo al
                                                desarrollo de obesidad
                                                –el 45 % de los niños y
                                                las niñas del Estado
                                                tiene sobrepeso u
                                                obesidad– y a sus
                                                complicaciones en la
                                                infancia, con el
                                                consiguiente aumento del
                                                riesgo de desarrollar
                                                enfermedades
                                                cardiovasculares y
                                                cáncer en el futuro. “La
                                                publicidad de alimentos
                                                y bebidas no saludables
                                                es una de las
                                                principales causas de la
                                                epidemia de obesidad
                                                infantil que padecemos
                                                en España, y esto es así
                                                por la falta de
                                                efectividad de la actual
                                                regulación para proteger
                                                a nuestros hijos y
                                                nuestras hijas. La
                                                propuesta que hacemos es
                                                coste-efectiva, promueve
                                                ambientes saludables,
                                                protege a una población
                                                vulnerable, ayudando a
                                                niños y niñas a
                                                alimentarse de forma
                                                saludable, disminuye
                                                desigualdades sociales
                                                en salud, aumenta la
                                                libertad individual de
                                                elección de los padres y
                                                cuenta con el apoyo de
                                                científicos,
                                                profesionales de la
                                                salud y consumidores”<em>,</em>
                                                ha concluido Miguel
                                                Ángel Royo,
                                                representante de SESPAS.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">Para

                                                seleccionar los
                                                productos saludables,
                                                cuya publicidad sería
                                                permisible, se propone
                                                aplicar el perfil
                                                nutricional de la región
                                                europea que propone la
                                                Organización Mundial de
                                                la Salud (OMS) para
                                                luchar contra la
                                                obesidad. El ámbito de
                                                actuación de la ley debe
                                                abarcar todos los medios
                                                publicitarios y, en
                                                particular: televisión,
                                                cine y radio; medios
                                                impresos y espacios
                                                publicitarios al aire
                                                libre (vallas, medios de
                                                transporte, etc.),
                                                Internet, aplicaciones
                                                de videojuegos con fines
                                                publicitarios (<em>advergames</em>),

                                                telefonía móvil y
                                                patrocinios (congresos,
                                                jornadas, fiestas,
                                                etc.). Este tipo de
                                                regulación ya funciona
                                                en otros países, como es
                                                el caso de Chile, que no
                                                solamente abarca la
                                                publicidad sino que
                                                también pone coto al
                                                etiquetado confuso y
                                                engañoso.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;"><strong>La

                                                  autorregulación no
                                                  funciona</strong></span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">El

                                                Código de
                                                Autorregulación de la
                                                Publicidad de Alimentos
                                                Dirigida a Menores
                                                (PAOS) regula esta
                                                materia en el Estado
                                                español. Este código,
                                                por su propia naturaleza
                                                y por haber sido gestado
                                                por las propias
                                                empresas, es incapaz de
                                                proteger a la infancia
                                                del efecto pernicioso de
                                                la publicidad
                                                alimentaria. La
                                                autorregulación y la
                                                corregulación, tal y
                                                como se ha demostrado en
                                                multitud de estudios,
                                                tienden a ser ineficaces
                                                en su aplicación
                                                práctica.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">Además,

                                                el Código PAOS no regula
                                                el perfil nutricional de
                                                los productos anunciados
                                                ni la frecuencia de
                                                exposición, en contra de
                                                las recomendaciones de
                                                la OMS los grupos de
                                                expertos y las
                                                organizaciones de
                                                consumidores. Asimismo,
                                                contraviene lo
                                                estipulado en la Ley de
                                                Seguridad Alimentaria y
                                                Nutrición al restringir
                                                su aplicación a menores
                                                de 12 años en medios
                                                audiovisuales e
                                                impresos, en lugar de
                                                los 15 años que marca
                                                dicha ley.</span></p>
                                            <p> <span
                                                style="font-size:14px;">Ante

                                                esto, para exigir
                                                limitaciones reales y
                                                defender la salud
                                                infantil, se ha lanzado
                                                hoy la campaña <a
                                                  moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://justiciaalimentaria.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=4592&qid=398737"><em>Defiéndeme</em></a>,
                                                con el fin de eliminar
                                                de la publicidad de
                                                alimentos malos para la
                                                salud de la población
